Artisan Built Furniture in the Arts and Crafts style is a labour of love.  Each piece of wood is carefully selected, often after picking through thousands of "board feet" from the supplier. Consideration is given to the wood with the end result in mind. In the case of quarter sawn oak, "flake" is a desirable quality and will give the finished piece life and interest.

When reproducing a rare piece of Arts and Crafts furniture, exact measurements are taken from the original. This often requires special access to fine collections or museum pieces.  No detail is left unexamined.

Mortise and Tenon joinery is a trademark quality of this type of furniture construction.  This photograph shows hand cutting of a through mortise.

A Perfect hand cut and filed through mortise and tenon joint.  Notice the undulating serpentine shapes of the "flake" in the wood.  This will be brought to life when the wood is stained and finished.

The Finishing process.

HHH finishes are a 30 step hand applied process that's taken 10 years to perfect. Beginning with  fuming/dying and moving on to their own shop mixed shellacs, glazes, fillers, and waxes. Never sprayed or top coated, never coated in plastic!  This attention to detail produces multiple light capturing layers. Their hand process produces an absolute historic, durable finish with a natural wood feel. These pieces have stood in homes next to original antiques and posses the same warm patina as the originals.  This is the reason that these finishes have been called "the finest in the reproduction market and the closest to the original antiques."

Each piece is completed to heirloom quality standards and signed with your name, the year, and the HHH symbol and made to last for generations.
